# Credit Cards

### Overview

The Credit Cards API returns the cards a customer holds — credit and debit — along with product details, available credit, current balance, and payment due information. Use it to build a card wallet, show statement summaries, and surface upcoming payment reminders.

As with accounts, card numbers are always masked and referenced by a durable `cardRef` alias.

---

### What you can do

**Display a card wallet** — Show every card a customer holds with artwork, nickname, and masked number.

**Summarize the statement** — Present current balance, minimum due, and payment due date at a glance.

**Track available credit** — Help customers understand how much of their limit remains.

---

### List a customer's cards

#### Authenticate

Obtain an access token with the `cards:read` scope. See the [Authentication guide](/consumer/api-docs/get-started/authentication).

#### Request cards

Call the endpoint to retrieve all cards linked to the customer.

#### Show summary details

Use the balance and payment fields to build a statement summary, and the `cardRef` for [Card Controls](/consumer/api-docs/cards/card-controls).

> To show recent card spending, use the [Transactions API](/consumer/api-docs/accounts/transactions) with the card's `cardRef`.

### Card status values

| Status | Meaning |
| ---------- | ---------------------------------- |
| `ACTIVE` | Card is active and usable |
| `LOCKED` | Temporarily locked by the customer |
| `REPLACED` | Reissued; a new card has been sent |
| `CLOSED` | Permanently closed |

---

### Security requirements

Requests require an OAuth 2.0 access token with the `cards:read` scope. Managing a card (locking, travel notices) additionally requires `cards:manage`. See the [Authentication guide](/consumer/api-docs/get-started/authentication).
