# Cash Balances

### Overview

The Custody Cash Balance API is designed to offer an effective solution for developers to access and integrate recent cash balance activity across individual cash accounts, providing more comprehensive data for both End of Day and Intraday periods. This granular access allows applications to monitor cash movements with increased precision, delivering a valuable snapshot of an entity's financial position correlated with a specified value date. It is designed to support critical functions such as near real-time portfolio tracking, more efficient reconciliation processes, and detailed regulatory reporting, alongside more optimized liquidity management and near real-time risk assessment within the investment securities services ecosystem.

---

### What will this help me with?

**Real-time Liquidity Management for Cash Accounts** — Financial institutions and treasurers can obtain almost immediate, up-to-the-minute cash balance information for each individual cash account. This aims to enable more accurate, near real-time assessment of available liquidity within specific cash accounts, facilitating more optimal funding decisions and short-term forecasting for those accounts.

**End-of-Day Reconciliation of Cash Accounts** — The API is designed to provide accurate End-of-Day cash balance data for every cash account, which is essential for daily reconciliation processes. Financial applications can automatically compare these balances against internal records and general ledgers for each specific cash account.

**Settlement and Payment Verification from Cash Accounts** — Prior to initiating payments or confirming settlements, systems can query the API to verify that sufficient cash balances exist within the relevant cash accounts. This helps prevent failed transactions due to insufficient funds in a specific cash account.

---

### How it works

You are encouraged to use OAuth Token Authentication for this API which requires only client and secret key. The End-of-Day (EOD) API allows retrieval of historical cash balance data for the past 12 months, while the Intraday API offers a real-time snapshot of transactions throughout the current trading day. All API responses will be paginated to ensure you are able to retrieve all necessary data.

#### To use the Cash Balances API, you will:

#### Make the OAuth Token

Use post call and pass the API credentials to get the OAuth token.

#### Get Balance data

Use Get Cash Balance API with generated token and client id, to retrieve the account information. You may define the pagination as required using skip and take parameters.
