# Safekeeping Positions

### Overview

The Safekeeping Positions API is designed to offer developers an effective solution for accessing detailed security positions and their corresponding market values. Designed to provide a more precise snapshot for a particular date and safekeeping account, this API aims to deliver more comprehensive data for both End-of-Day and Intraday periods. This granular, time-sensitive access is important for tracking an entity's custodial assets, enabling more comprehensive portfolio valuation, supporting more accurate risk analysis, streamlining regulatory reporting, and facilitating efficient reconciliation processes by reflecting near real-time and closing positions of held securities.

---

### What will this help me with?

**Real-time Portfolio Valuation and Monitoring** — Portfolio managers and investment analysts can leverage the intraday data to continuously monitor the market value of their security holdings within specific safekeeping accounts. This is designed to provide an up-to-the-minute view of their investment exposure and portfolio performance.

**Automated Reconciliation and Auditing** — Financial operations teams can use both End-of-Day and Intraday position and valuation data to automate the reconciliation of internal records with custodial statements. This aims to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies quickly.

**Enhanced Client Reporting and Servicing** — Investment firms can integrate this API into client portals and periodic statements to provide their clients with more transparent and accurate reports on their custodial security holdings and their market values.

---

### How it works

You are encouraged to use OAuth Token Authentication for this API which requires only client and secret key. The End-of-Day (EOD) API allows retrieval of historical cash transaction data for the past 12 months, while the Intraday API offers a real-time snapshot of positions info throughout the current trading day. All API responses will be paginated to ensure you are able to retrieve all necessary data.

#### To use the Safekeeping Positions API, you will:

#### Make the OAuth Token

Use post call and pass the API credentials to get the OAuth token.

#### Get positions data

Use Get Positions endpoint with a generated token and client id, to retrieve the account information. You may define the pagination as required using skip and take parameters.
